My history book, on one of the very fist leaves, where it has all the copyright information and the like, says this:
"this book cannot be re-exported from the country to which it is sold by McGraw-Hill. The International Edition is not available in North America".
huh?
is there some evil conspiracy to keep americans ignorant of the rest of the world?
There will be a US version available except it will be 3 times the price. It is a device to keep text book prices high in the US where US students are used to paying them, but having competitive prices elsewhere where students simply would not pay the prices.
A case in point - I have one of these text books.
I purchased the International version (not for sale in US) from Amazon UK and imported. The cost of my book (the full retail price) was £30, roughly translated $50. The same book except the US version is priced at $120 here. Exactly the same book, except purchased in the US.
