I suspect that Muslims would say that of course they do. Muslim women who don't want to submit to Islam aren't really Muslims, are they?

Lots of stuff. I believe the split occurred because there were differences over who should lead the Muslims after Mohammad.
Shias believe that the leader of Islam should be a descendent of Mohammad through his cousin Ali and Fatima.
Sunnis don't.
