and why was it protested for athiests to rebut passions?
The Passion was filmed. Some people thought it was an accurate portrayal of events in the Bible, some people did not. These people debated each other primarily in the media. Though an atheist myself, I noticed no atheist rebuttals of the movie. Most of the protest against The Passion centered around it's supposed anti-Semitism. Also many protested against its extreme violence.
Now this movie is being filmed. I'm not so certain that anyone thinks that it is accurate. Some people may be trying to portray it that way, and other people are trying to rebut it.
I don't see the difference between the two cases. It seems obvious to me that the default position should be to welcome debate.
If you want to see 'protest' try to make a movie about Muhammad's life.
