I know that recent Israeli actions seem to have had US support but been critisiced outside the US, it may well be a reference to Blair not taking issue with Bush over this

Israel is always condemned by the rest of the world, except for the US. Britain normally sits on the fence and says both sides do very bad things which is what we have done recently - Jack Straw gives Israeli rebuttles over strong retaliation, and then condemns the Palestinians for not controlling terrorism.
