The only thing I can think of is that both President Bush and Tony Blair have said that a Palestinian state is the only viable course for peace. Which has never been said before, which is surely a good thing.

Perhaps I am missing something here though as the situation is very complex.

The impression I had was that Bush is settling for leaving the Palestinians with a reduced area under their own control than before, letting Israel keep more power of the area. But as you say, it is very hard to tell with it.
