Can you give any examples?
Words with an 'ow' sound in them seem to cause the most problems. It's hard to explain in writing, but my pronounciation is quite different to the Australian way and some people here seem to have a lot of trouble with it, unless I make the effort to pronounce it 'properly'. I suspect part of the problem is because this country is rather isolated so a lot of Australians are not exposed to all that many accents.
wads says people from Adelaide speak more like Brits.
Heh...maybe because he's been mistaken for one. Some people claim there are differences in accent between the cities, but if there are they are very slight. Nothing like the variation within the US or UK.
German isn't faring well in this survey...
