Ah...wasn't Bristol home to the terrible and infamous Chicken of Bristol?
I am sure there is some actual name for the phenomenon, which is encountered on a regular basis. Were I a psychologist, I would tell you the name. As it is, I have forgotten.
I know it's quite a common phenomenon; I've heard from other people who do the same thing.
What's wrong with the South Netherlands?
Nothing at all (in my opinion, anyway ). But people from the west don't take anything that comes from south of the great rivers or east of the IJsselmeer seriously - they have a rather high opinion of themselves. Unfortunately for them, everyone else thinks they're arrogant idiots .
That makes sense. Some of my Russian friends hate strong Russian accents. I think it has something to do with assimilation and lack thereof.
Some accents can sound really nice.....and I've been told by many people that my accent is fairly light, hard to place, and quite nice. However, I'm always afraid that I might sound like our former Prime Minister Wim Kok, who spoke English fluently, but made me cringe every time he did it...
Glad you liked it!
