Interesting, though, that Adelaide differs from the rest of Australia. Is there any historical reason for it?
There are subtle differences in Australian accents between cities. I never pick them up though and I really doubt whether most people do. I'm just going on what I have heard said by others so I'm really not the best person to ask that question of.
On another note, there is a reasonable city-country divide. The country accent is far more likely to be the stereotypical one whilst people in the cities tend not to have accents that are that strong. Mind you, you can tell a bit of a difference between outer suburbs and inner suburbs within cities as well. Depends though, it isn't always clear cut.
