the country accent that I occationally fall back into is looked down upon. Many people automatically assume that if your accent is in any way hickish, you're automatically stupid.
I lived in the South for a long time, I can attest both to the stereotype and its lack of grounding in any reality whatsoever.

South African accents are freaking awesome! Russian is nice. Actually, I tend to prefer other variations of English accents than foreign accents (such as a British accent over a Spanish accent)
I've never heard a lot of South African accents. That would be interesting...

Not any that come to mind. I'm not a huge fan of Spanish accents. But like before, there are some variations of English that just drive me crazy, like the Boston or New York accents. Gah...the New York ones sound so whiney...
