simple googling (yes, that is right. i am becomming an internet godess) showed me that the republican primaries were held in march, and are termed a convention... I don't know. Could be it

It's hard to believe that is what he is talking about, since there are not convention-type meetings that go with a primary election, unless one is holding a caucus, which Texas does not do.
