Yes, I do Nebhead - 23/04/2004 01:13:21 PM

What make / model do you have?
It's about 2 years old now: iPAQ 3970

What OS does it use?
PocketPC

Is it useful?
Not as useful as I had hoped, but thats on;y because I don't use it properly. It can be as useful as you want it to be. Mine is just a gadget :/

What do you use it for?
PLaying NES emulations, organisation, internet on the move.... geeky gadgety stuff

Do you have Bluetooth and is it useful?
Yes, and yes. Veeeery much so.... bluetooth is sold down a lot, but is useful if you have several devices that use it.

(PDA’s with Bluetooth are a lot more expensive than those without but I cannot see where I would use it).
You'll use it if, for example, you have a BT enabled mobile, camera, anything The connectivity is really good.

Do you have WiFi and is it a reliable connection?
No, but WiFi is brilliant. Get it if you can.

(The security aspects of wireless networks worry me but I can see where WiFi is very useful in a PDA, but only if the connection doesn’t keep disappearing and reappearing every two seconds)

Is there lots of software available?
Loads, although most of it costs.

Would you recommend one?
Hmmm, I'm not too in touch with the PDA scene to be able to, but I know HP make good ones.

Do you know how easy it is to write programs for them?
If you can get decent compilers, easy. If you know java, simply install the PPC version of the Java SDK, and then your Java programs will work.

(I can think of several useful programs I could write for one in either Java or VB but obviously there would have to be a very different environment to write them for and I am concerned that Microsoft charges thousands for the pleasure – I wouldn’t even know where to start with Palm OS)
