only if you need one for appointments. The phonenumber thingy can be dealt with with your cell phone instead. I dunno if I had bought one if it hadn't been the occasion.

Primarily this semester I have been dreadful for coursework that needs doing, appointments, and schedules. With a PDA I can have them all in one place than try and remember them or collate lots of different pieces of paper. I also want / need it to be integrated with my PC which kind of rules out the smartphone option. Also as I travel between the US and UK a lot a phone isn't really an option as I would need a tri-band one, and the phone contracts would be very expensive.

You can be sure they charge. Maybe there is an alternative for linux?

I plan to investigate Linux more thoroughly over the summer. Microsoft despite all their faults have in the past given developers programming environments away without charge (such as DirectX for games) as more people then write software for Windows. Not sure if they treat PDA's the same or not, such as whether i can download a module for VB or if I need to buy a whole new product.
