Something else. tony Blair has continually claimed that there would not be a referendum on the EU constitution and that parliament would make the decision. He also said that he had no reverse gear. On Tuesday he announced there would be a referendum in the biggest U-Turn in British politics that I can remember. Since then he has been flip-flopping on all the issues around it that he makes John Kerry look like a man with consistent views.

you don't need a global government. you need an organization like the UN but without the veto. The EU does not fit.

It wouldn't work unless the UN has a method to enforce its will - at that point you have a global government. though none of the major countries would agree to a UN vithout a veto so that for the forseeable future is nothing more than a pipedream. I agree about the EU.

I think there would be a lot more war and global issues would be harder to tackle. China would stomp all over the world (unless you propose splitting China up too), and it ain't ever going to happen.
