I was in Salou in Spain, principally. It's a resort on the costa Dorada, largely populated by Tabloid reading, beer swilling, Football top wearing, effing and blinding English tourists. Who like real food and real beer and none of that foreign muck. I honestly could not find a restaurant in the whole god-forsaken town that served spanish food. Everything was "Real Sunday Lunch" "Real Heinz Tomato sauce" "Best mug of Tea in Spain"...
Mrs. Druid and I did the Costa del something - Tossa del Mar - a bit north of Barcelona. Both the coast and Barcelona were magic. German tourists rather than Brit - so plenty of good Tchermann food
If I'd heard about it from someone else I'd have laughed.
Another reason to holiday in Britain - you just can't get good Indian in Spain
Needless to say, I spent a lot of time out and about searching for civilisation... I recommend Tarragona as a beautiful city and Barcelona, well it recommends itself.
I've done Andalucia around Seville and westwards to the Portuguese border - I worked there for three months. Madrid and Barcelona and the Pyrenees finish it off.
How was Guadacanal? No unexploded bombs, I take it?
They are all gone - either rusted, or theblocals dug them up during the recent civil strife
Island paradise, but the locals want to run it their way, which, unfortunately, can no longer work. Their population is expanding exponentially with modern medical care and the Catholic Church. No jobs. Big pressure on land. Big problems, which have not gone away, despite Oz and Kiwiland intervening and stopping the killing.
Probably best scuba diving in the world.
Not for the faint-hearted, but should be safe while the Australian and Kiwi Armies and Police are in charge of security.
