Okay people, we are getting down to the wire now. Yes, its still 4 months away, but planning time is running out.

The Michigan 2004 Gathering is almost here. I'm starting this FAQ to give you all an easy place to refer to for any questions you might have. You might wanna save it to your favorites.

Where is this gathering located?

Detroit area. Oakland county to be more specific, unless we decide to bump the whole thing to a campground. If that happens it will still be roughly the same geographical area.

When is it?

Monday August 16th through Sunday August 22nd.

Where can I stay?

Free lodging is almost completely filled up. The following people have it reserved. If you are not on this list, expect to be paying for your own lodging.

If you want free lodging, you MUST contact Kitara, Amyrlin, or Marl by June 15th to reserve. Out of country folk get top priority. No guarantee is being made here that just because you ask you will definatly get free lodging. Although if you dont ask, you definatly wont.

Where else can we stay?

If you plan on staying the whole week and want a hotel, the Extended Stay Auburn Hills is probably the cheapest choice.

Alternatly, you might decide to go camping for the week. We currently do not have a campground selected for everyone to use. If you wish to go camping, please respond by June 15th so that we can get an idea of how much interest there is. If there is sufficient interest, we may shove a lot of the free stayers out of Kit and Amy's places and into the campground to avoid overcrowding (tents will be found and sites paid for if we do that though for those free stayers). More info will be posted here after June 15th.

Finally, if you are only planning on spending the weekend, there are several hotels in the area. The internet is out there, search yourself. If you find something you like, reply here and I will add it in. We wont have any "official" hotel (at least not yet) as to where people can stay, but rather will simply let you all converse amongst yourselves, to stay as near (or far) as you want to other people.

I'm flying in, which airport do I use, and how do I get to where other people are?

Detroit Metro: DTW

We will have various airport runners who will be picking people up as they fly in. We don't plan on driving people anywhere they wanna go anytime, but we can get you from the airport, to wherever you are staying, and then back to the airport again if you tell us when you are coming and going.

What are we going to be doing?

Cedar Point

Currently planned for Tuesday and Wednesday. If you plan to attend Cedar Point with us, let us know no later than July 15. That way we can plan who is coming, for how long, and determine what kind of transportation we need.

Currently we intend to camp, as there are grounds at the park itself. The park is located in Sandusky, Ohio...close to 150 miles from the Gathering. If enough people reply, we may even be able to split the trip for those that don't want to spend two days and camp overnight. In any case, if you wanna come, REPLY.

Cedar Point is an amusement park, with some of the best roller coasters in the world. There are other attractions as well. See www.cedarpoint.com for more details.

Cost: $43.95 for one day, $66.95 for two days. Some discounts are available, this will be updated as we get more info. I doubt we will have enough people coming at this point to qualify for group rates though.

OZZFest

This one was suggested as an alternative on Tuesday for those who don't wish to go to Cedar Point.

Casino/Night Club night

This will be help Thursday night for those of you that like this sorta thing. It will be held locally so we dont really need advance notice if you plan to participate in this event. Cost? However much you want to blow I would imagine. Drinking age: 21

Welcome Wotmaniacs Night

Currently this is what is planned on Friday night for those of you that are coming down. Basically it will be hang out time for everyone. Exact details are very sketchy right now as we dont know who is coming when.

Ren Fen

Renaissance Festival trip will be held Saturday. If you are driving in just for a single day, this is probably the day to do it.

I've searched previous posts on this subject and compilied a list of those who stated they were coming, and those who might be coming. This list is likely not totally correct as those previous posts were up to a year old. If you want your name switched from one list to another, or added or taken off, or whatever, just reply.

Also, since there is a wide range of when people will be arriving, if those coming are willing to say when they will be here, I will add that info next to their names. It will be very helpful when planning events to know who will be here, so if you can, please reply with times. To reduce stalking problems, I won't add any times unless the person themselves asks me to. I can also completely remove you from the stated list if that is a problem for you.
