US oil companies shut down pumps and lay off workers. My stepdad's best friend works for an oil company in Kansas, and that's his job: turning on oil pumps when prices go up, shutting them off when prices go down.

The uS has many other sources of income - most middle eastern countries don't. Iraqi oil will come back on the market at some point in time ...
