Actually, Akhnaton was history's first monotheist. He was the first to actually say that only one god existed (and he was pharao of Egypt). He actually tried to erase all the other gods of Egypt, but died.

funny people. A minority in the Middle East (Syria, mostly, I think) who believe they are descendants of Adam and Eve etc. They belive in a peacock-angel who has been reincarnated six times I think, and they have at least two of the burial sites as holy places. Utterly fascinating. Their religion is a mix of all the religions of the middle east up until the 13th century.
That's sounds interesting. Odd I've never heard of them.
