Yes, indeed. In fact, there is no law or rule against discrimination in political appointments. If he was applying for a job opening in the government, that would be a different story.
His appointment will cause trouble for the Bush administration, no matter how wonderfully or horribly he performs. Thus, I believe, appointing him is an idiotic political decision, and I hope it is reversed.
I think you are right on this point. I dont think it will be reversed though, to many other things in politics for bush to care about this guy, he has to worry about Sadam.
