You're reading a lot into my comments that aren't there - I don't want to see any nation packing nuclear weapons, I was making the point that the US may possibly be being slightly hypocritical that's all.
After all I would say it seems hard to justify the use of weapons of mass destruction against a near defeated opponent, unless it was to let the Reds know what you've got up your sleeve, but I'm sure that's just me.
I suspect that you are aware of the Potsdam Proclamation urging Japan to surrender, and the 27 million leaflets we dropped onto Japanese cities before we dropped the bomb. I suspect you are aware of the Suicide Cliffs of Saipan. I suspect you are aware of how few Japanese surrendered in the battle of... well... pick any battle ever fought between the US and Japan in the Pacific. The Japanese had quite different ideas about what 'defeat' meant than you do.
Plus most nations seem to be able to get nuclear weapons without the need for some one to petion the UK government to sell nuclear materials abroad.
I do take the situation sriously, I was just making a point that I've now restated above.
The question does arise as to how much the US stirred up both Iraq and North Korea with the Axis of Evil line from Ol' Bushy Boy - whatching them take down the Afgahn government and then, in the case of North Korea, line up Iraq next is going to make them think of self defence no?
Considering that North Korea had already re-activated it's illegal nuclear program, I'm just glad to have a president who's not afraid to call it as it is, rather than as he wishes it was.
