...and I thought we had stopped placing the burden of proof on the actorate.
You made a statement of fact, which was not proven. IT is not my responsibility to disprove it, it is yours to prove it, as you offered it. We call this the fallacy of Subverted Support, as it has not been tested. Perhaps it is true, though I cannot see it. Do you have proof for your assertion?
I have been trying to handle the internet (with which I have little skill), and I found this page for you:
http://www.aeobih.com.ba/teslic_confp5.htm
"In the United States, we are witnessing a historic display of public discussion over the election system. Many Americans are, for the first time, being educated on the intricacies of the US election system. Most Americans have never given much thought to how their ballots are designed; most have never cared whether the ballots were counted by hand or by machine. And, until a few weeks ago, very few Americans could explain to you the system of Electoral College."

"He suggested that the drawn-out struggle between Gore and Bush had been a teachable moment for a nation largely ignorant of how its electoral system really works. "
and here is an interesting one:

Perhaps you do not know that the electoral college is taught in highschool in America, for the purpose of educating the population. It is in text-books. Now, whether or not people pass those tests is another question, so perhaps you have some proof.
as I said: my skill with internet is bad to say the least.
So I ask you again: you made a statement that can only be come to through some wisdom, some knowledge; for obviously, one of your intelligence would not hastily make such a biased and unsupported statement.
It is based on things I have read, but for the life of me I cannot remember where or when.
It may have been in connection with lessons in school or reading a newspaper.
