When's the last time you saw foreign programming in the US somewhere other than an obscure cable channel? I think he's trying to highlight the fact that the US takes in very little cultural "imports" while producing massive "exports." Our TV programming, our movies, our food and businesses all take a little piece of "America" out into the world. It's much the same way missionaries travel to different nations to spread their own brand of faith.
What you are speaking of here seems to be Americanization/Globalization, and not the fundamentalism Chomsky is speaking of.
I can see where the others are coming from though. Puritanism in the US is taking way too long to die.
