I'm interested in what foreign persons/beings/entities think and know about the Netherlands and the Dutch. So here are some challenging questions:

1. What's the first thing you associate with the Netherlands?
For some reason I associate it as a cultural centre. I've no idea why...

2. What's the first thing you associate with the Dutch?
Hrm... People with a more liberal lifestyle?

3. What food do you associate with the Netherlands?
Some ambiguous beef dish. [I've no idea what food is specifically Dutch.]

4. Have you ever tried it?
I always eat ambiguous foods.

if yes: Did you like it?
Often... no.

if not: Are you willing to try it someday?

5. What drink do you associate with the Netherlands?
Beer. Don't know any brands though. That's a good thing. I hate brandname loyalties

6. Have you ever tried it?
I can't have.
if yes: Did you like it?

if not: Are you going to drink it someday?
If I find out what it is.

7. What sport do you associate with the Netherlands? and why?
Soccer (football, whatever). Do I have to explain?

8. Have you ever met someone who was Dutch (IRL)?
Not that I know of. I probably walked by some often.
if yes: What was it like?

if not: Would you like to meet one?
Yeah, what the hell.

9. Have you ever dated someone who was Dutch?
Nope. I study physics. I find it difficult to date Canadians.
if yes: What was it like? would you do it again?

if not: Would you like to date one?
Certainly. You seem an attractive bunch.

10. Have you ever been to the Netherlands?
No, no I haven't. I'm a poor student.

if yes: Did you like it here? What do you remember?

if not: Do you think you'll ever visit the Netherlands?
Of course I will. Guaranteed (with no money down, unfortunately).

11. Are you Dutch?
Not that I know of.
if yes: Why on earth are you taking this survey?

if not: Would you like to be one?
You offering dual citizenships? That'd be cool.

12. How would you describe the Netherlands?
A hilly, grassy place. In other words, I don't know much about the landscape.

13. How would you describe a stereotype Dutchman?
He's white... That's all I have.

14. Do you think I am a stereotype Dutch girl?
Probably not. I mean, your sn is Queen of Borg. A woman who openly shows even a modicum of Star Trek knowledge is rare even in North America.

15. Do you know some Dutch words?
Nope...

[Edit: I just remembered that I had a dream once where a friend was trying to convice me to go to The Hague with her... She wanted to do pot, I think. Which is wierd, since in real life she'd never do that. And I found it funny that in my dream she mixed up Amsterdam with The Hague... Just thought I'd add that...]
