Re: Ah, but you hit directly onto my questioning. Fan - 16/01/2003 08:00:19 PM

Truthfully, there are probably huge differences in the operant influences that you and your brother have experienced. Granted they are probably more similar than the way two strangers would have been raised, but this is merely a question of degree...

Of course there are. But what I speak of, is what you have brought up. For one thing, Mashy was talking of my younger brother, and not the brother I was referring of. Yet this is a moot point.

I was simply attempting to point out that conditioning does not always play a decisive role (as Chora seemed to be implying), and that other things can or do account for the differences in people. That is, we each can seemed to have been raised similarly, and turn out so different. And partially, that is due to what you speak of below:

Also, do not discount the fact that two people may percieve the same event/conversation in different ways and thus be shaped differently by the same experience.

This is one thing that I was attempting to show, but perhaps I did not elucidate it as I should have. People are differnt, regardless of their conditioning, and how similar or not similar it was. My point to Chora was that he did not need to point out the school of Environmentalism to me, and that it was not something that I was ignorant of when I made my post.
