Okay, so here's the deal. All day long the main community board was dying a slow but painful death... It was REALLY slow. The other boards at wotmania were just flying along, though. I looked at Saidar a bit, and saw that it was running at very high CPU utilization.
I came to the conclusion that while we may not have bumped into the limit of the message board software itself, with the increased traffic due to the release of CoT, we were pushing the limit of what I can do with the hardware that's in my budget and a message board table that was 300+MB.
So what does this all mean? It means that I have set up a brand new message board with a fresh table in mySQL. I'm not locking the old board, but it will not be possible to post new topics on the old board. I'll be reformatting the menus and stuff later to account for this change.
Uh, yeah. The community board should be back to running quickly. I'll have a number of other changes to make to reflect this change (like user profiles), but I'll get that stuff as time allows.
Enjoy the new, fast board.
