It was made so the people could not decide the leaders in the government, but instead the more educated. This is because the founding fathers were afraid of true democracy.

The people of each state vote for who they want their state to vote for, and then the state (through the electoral college) casts a vote for whoever the majority of the people voted for.
No... the members of the electoral college could vote for whoever they darn well wanna. Though usually they follow the vote of the state.
This is not a "technicality." It is a deliberate institution within the American government system to balance power between the states and the federal government.

It's misleading and prejudiced. It demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of American culture, society, or government. People should learn about things, or better yet visit places, before they spout off about them.
