Europe has already shown its ability to fight evil. It showed it in the 1930s, when fear of war permitted the tyranny of Hitler to swallow up Austria and Czechoslovakia without a fight. Even when he invaded Poland, no one declared war on him except for Britain and France, and they passed up an opportunity to strike at Germany when the Western frontier was thinly-manned because they STILL hoped to somehow avert bloodshed. Everyone else put their heads in the sand and then surrendered when invaded. The Swedes never even had the courage to stand up to evil, except for a few people like Raoul Wallenberg.
I agree with most you said. But don't forget: They were welcomed in Austria. Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary & later on Finland joined the Axis states (each for there own reasons).
Belgium, Luxemburg & the Netherlands didn't have an army to resist the German Blitzkrieg as did Denmark.
Germany had an anti-agression pact with USSR (so no help there). Russia then attacked the Baltic states & Finland.
The coastline of Norway was first mined by the Britains before they were invaded by Germany. (strategic importance for Germany to secure Swedish supply of Iron ore)
In Spain, Franco had seized power with the aid of the Germans & they were neutral (no help there either)
They were also at war with Japan in Asia. The USA hadn't entered the war yet & Russia wasn't an ally yet.
So how should the Britains & the French have entered the war then? They were pretty much on their own, so it wasn't that evident to strike against Germany on the Western frontier.
p.s. they didn't hope to avoid bloodshed, they already knew that the only way to deal with Hitler was through war after Germany occupied Prague.
That having been said, regardless of whether you feel that the United States has made its point, the message that you sent skews the line between good and evil, between a democratic nation that has time and again stood up against tyranny, respected the rights of innocents everywhere, and fought constantly to improve living conditions of all of its citizens, and a despotic dictatorship directly responsible for torturing and killing thousands of its own citizens and insensitive to the misery that it has perpetuated on the face of the earth.
Yeah, but i don't see American soldiers in Africa? Or are there no dictators, torturing & a lot of misery on that continent? You may not forget that most of the wars are fought because of strategic/economic reasons. The US have never shown any mainingfull interest in this region although the african people suffer the most.
