Cthulhu is a creation of H.P. Lovecraft. Despite the fact that a book claiming to be the Necronomicon has been published, the entire milieu of Cthulhu is fictitious.
A close examination of the Necronomicon shows that it is a very pathetic sham of a book that incorporates principles of Qabbalah, Gnosticism and pseudo-Babylonian ideas in a disgusting mélange that makes no sense whatsoever. Sumerian ideas are thrown in haphazardly, quite obviously making use of information that is outdated and incorrect, and a few H.P. Lovecraft deities make fleeting appearances as though to make their existence amidst mashkim, igigi, Lilith, Nergal, etc. a fact.
Cthulhu is PURELY a Lovecraftian concept, and there is only one spelling - Cthulhu...
