I just took it as being you're from Australia therefore your opinion is irrelevant - which I thought was pretty illmannered
How could you take it that way? Wulf (sarcastically) made an observation that Butler's opinions were skewed by Aussie media. Despite this, Wulf then spent 2 paragraphs trying to change his opinion. Obviously Wulf thinks his opinion is relevant. So important, in fact, that Wulf spent time trying to change Butler's mind. Then, in response to:
Maybe a war against Iraq is a necessary evil, and maybe it isn't - but, by God! There is now way I will ever believe that George W Bush is the right man to conduct it.
Wulf rightly came to the conclusion that arguing further is a waste of time. Butler admitted that he would never, no matter what occurred, change his mind.
Note my response to Butler. I read his whole text and responded in the only way a reasonable person can to someone whose mind is closed.
Edit: My real problem with your response is that you objected to Wulf's post on some sort of strange 'thought-police' grounds. Using 'Free Speech' as a way to stifle opposition arguments is a pet peeve of mine.
