I seriously did not make this up. I heard it on CBC radio in the morning and went to their website to check up on it further. It actually happened.
and looking at their reasons, if they really were acting for her safety, all they had to do was handcuff her- no reason to strip her. problem solved.
Yes, that's certainly true. All I can think of is that their regulations go the other way when it comes to a person trying to hang themselves (for real or not); the first action must be, in that instance, to remove the clothes of the prisoner. Maybe those rules need to be rewritten, I don't know. I do, however, know that this person was being rather foolish in her actions. Ah well. I suppose there's always hope that people will learn from their actions, eh?
