First of all, I am not sure where you get 3 minutes every two hours at. It takes about 3-4 hours to play a regulation. The four quarters are broken into 15 minutes a piece to a total on 45 minutes. That obviously doesn't equate into 3 minutes every two hours. That would be a six minute game in 4 hours. Heh.

And you also need to keep in mind that some of these time outs we get are for TV timeouts. The Television station needs to pay for airing the game so they also make the teams stop play while they make advertisements which really really slows things down.

But besides that, teams are allowed 3 timeouts per half, 6 per game. Any other time not coming off the clock is by the TV stations fault or an incomplete pass.

As far as soccer goes, those of us in the states just don't find it that exciting. Its a snoozer sport like golf or tennis or baseball. You can argue that golf is exciting or tennis is exciting or baseball is exciting but people just don't go head to head like they do in football. The same can be said about your soccer games. Watching people trotting up and down the field for 90 minutes is not what Americans call exciting.

American Football on the other hand forces two lines of guys right up against each other to out shove the other one in an attempt to force the quarterback to the ground before he can throw it to a receiver who will be flattened as soon as he catches the ball. Now thats exciting to watch. I think that Rugby would be just as popular as American football is here in the states. But soccer just doesn't have that air of roughness that Americans like. That is also a reason why I believe baseball is flopping out. Hockey and Football on the other hand are seeing good times. Soccer just isn't exciting I'm sorry. Maybe we need to get drunk like everybody in your stadiums in England to enjoy it like you do but its probably just a bad sport to watch. *Yawns*
