I agree this growing chasm between UK and the Germany-France "coalition" could prove to be a serious problem in the EU. It all depends on what option the other EU countries support. I think a great majority of them are with France and Germany on this one, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Full support / cautious support:

UK (biggest supporter), Italy, Spain, Holland and Denmark

Full against / cautious against:

France, Germany, Greece, Austria, Belgium and Luxemburg

No firm position:

Ireland, Portugal, Sweden and Finland
