Why do you drive a car that only gets 21 mi/gallon? Why didn't you buy a car that got in the 30 range to begin with, and why don't you trade in your Intrepid for a hybrid now? If you feel so strongly about this to call people idiots, then be part of the solution, don't just complain about it.

The reason I am hesitant about hybrids is the long term durability. Give it 5 years or so and see if the Honda hybrid is just as reliable as the regular Honda. Then (assuming the body styles are different and with more choices) maybe I'll consider one.
