I am Australian, but live in Canada. I was visiting my parents this weekend, and very early this morning, I remembered the date and decided to raise our Australian flag up our falgpole to surprise my family. This was all very well until I looked out side and saw that an impressive half meter of snow had fallan since sunset. I put on some boots and trudged outside (at 2am in my pyjames)... it only took two steps for my shoes to fill with snow, and another two for me to begin to regret my insane flag-raising impulses. I finally get to the flag pole, lower the Canadian flag and attempt to take it off, but the laws of physics or chemistry had thwarted me, the metal had expanded to a size that preveted me from detaching the flag from the pole. So I settled with tying the Australian flag below the Canadian. Wow it was cold, though I believe the temperature was only -15, which is a lot warmer than it has been recently. It is no longer Australia day (ended 2 minutes ago), but I did my best to celebrate it here in the north. Hope everyone else had an enjoyable day!
