until tonight I was an American Football virgin, never really seen it before, the nearest I'd got was playing a EA Madden game for the mega drive. (and that bored me as well to be honest) Now don't get me wrong either, i enjoy basketball, even if IMHO sometimes the scores get a tad ridiculous (a team winning 109-108?!?!) and I love Ice Hockey, wish it was on UK television more. But you can keep american footy.
And I have to say having seen just over one quarter (although the game's been going on for more than an hour) then I'm afraid I'll stick with football(soccer for you MerryCans). I've caught a couple of naps in the gaps in play, maybe start a game of solitaire a bit later in the game...if I can keep my eyes open that is. I mean, do the people who go and watch the game take books to read inbetween plays? Just now the TV coverage is even showing highlights of the half time musical acts rehearsals - in the middle of play!!! Whats that all about!
So anyway, sure I can understand that there's a great deal of strategy in hitting somebody else hard in the face, but hey, if you want strategy then watch a game of chess!!!! And I'm sorry but getting excited because someone has moved three yards, well whoopee. Try Rugby league, in that you get six tackles to travel the entire length of the field!!!
And all the people on the edge of the field, don't you have dugouts? Don't they get in the way?
Anyway, apologies if I've offended any American readers of this post, I'm sure that there's a helluva lot to enjoy in American football, I just can't see what it is. Feel free to take the p*** out of cricket, hell given the current performance of the England cricket team I'll join in your p***taking. I'll just stick with the FA cup in June as my big annual sporting occasion. Sorry
if you were to play dungeons and dragons for 12 hours straight, eat a wheel of brie and knock yourself out with a hammer, your dreams would look something like this
