i suppose _to be_ is special....it is irregular in conjugation in every language I have ever seen...I suppose it would fit that it is irregular in pronounciation also.
yes. I have never come across the "I" being irregular, though. As far as I know, it is pronounced the same in all English-speaking countries. Same goes for the spanish and french. hmmm. perhaps we are just crazy
I am wondering why _to be_ is so consistently irregular in conjugation....probably something obvious and me just being slow...i don't see why more regular usage directly leads to irregularity...if that was true then the articles would surely be really irregular....
ah, but the articles are so simple. there are variations there as well, however. Well, as to which you use, that is. I think I have told you that there are people in Norway who say ei okse and en jente.
As in the more level areas of Norway have less variation?
yes. To me it sounds like that, at least. And aereas that are not separated by mountains are closer linguistically. I told you about the Romsdal-dialect. This is because all these towns and villages are within the same valley.
I never considered this before, but it does also explain why the US has very little variation for such a huge area..... That would suggest something interesting about the himalayas and such, but I know nothing about Tibetan...
me neither. You could perhaps ask The Voice of Lews Therin. I think he said he had just learned Tibetan on the MB
Well...i'm not too worried by the geography...when I was really small, I had a world map on the wall. Being small and stupid, I stared at it for periods of time too long for sanity. When I was 5, I could draw it from memory, and for some reason i didn't find it boring to do so every few days.
too long for sanity indeed
I do find it worrying though, how I knew the _Rosenes By_...I have never read a guide book or anything, and it wouldn't be in an atlas...well, i doubt it anyway..hm
perhaps I have mentioned it?
